First the technician needs to verify that the electrical main panel has sufficient circuit space and amperage availability to supply the additional 240 volt 50 amp circuit. Once this is confirmed then the distance, load requirements, installation method and NEC code requirements will be determined and applied to the estimate for customer approval and then ideally purchased in bulk to save costs. Typically if existing service has adequate space price ranges from $750-1500. If electrical service is maxed out due to lack of circuit space or undersized amperage and conductor ratings a service upgrade or subpanel installation is required and total price increased. $1500-7500 is not unrealistic depending on the aforementioned variables and property attributes.
